In recent years, American soldiers have detected more than a hundred aerial phenomena, the origin of which defense and intelligence analysts could not identify, an American intelligence report revealed.

Local time, the report presented to Congress on Friday is the first official government acknowledgment that unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), as the new official name is called, have been detected in the United States. A total of 144 cases have been reported by various government sources , mostly by the US Navy. Of these, 80 observations were confirmed by several sensors.

Among the cases described in the report are those that were also recorded on video: they show mysteriously powered aircraft whose speed and maneuverability exceed the limits of currently known flight technologies.

The report was unable to provide an explanation for the origin of these aerial phenomena, and they cannot even rule out that they could have been of extraterrestrial origin, although the text of the report does not mention this possibility. A high-ranking official, speaking anonymously, told reporters that the purpose of the investigation was not to investigate the possibilities of extraterrestrial life. In the 144 cases, there is no clear indication of the presence of extraterrestrial life, but the investigation continues in all directions, he added.

There are many other possible explanations for the mysterious sightings, which may even be linked to advanced terrestrial technologies, or they may be natural atmospheric phenomena. According to the report, there are only a limited number of really high-quality recordings of the sightings, so no firm conclusions can be drawn about the nature and character of the observed objects.

In the report, it was stated that the unidentified aerial phenomena are clearly a aviation safety problem and may even pose a threat to American national security. They added: there is most likely no single explanation for the phenomena.

The intelligence report dealing with the subject can be considered a turning point in that the US military denied and discredited reports on UFO sightings and flying saucers for decades.

The Pentagon launched a program to investigate unidentified aerial phenomena in 2007 after Harry Reid pushed for $22 million a year in congressional funding for the research. The program was closed in 2012 due to a lack of funds, but in 2017 a 33-second video of two US Air Force fighter jets chasing an unidentified object off the coast of San Diego, California was released. Even after 2012, the Pentagon continues to investigate reports of unidentified objects or alien space vehicles.

The report made public on Friday was compiled by the National Intelligence Directorate (DNI) and the task force of the navy.
