So far, about 90 percent of the renovation of the Székely National Museum has been completed, and according to the plans, the work will be completed by Christmas. All signs indicate that the renovated museum will open its doors in Sepsiszentgyörgy in 2023, announced Sándor Tamás, the chairman of the Kovászna County Council, which maintains the public collection.

They are satisfied with the pace of the works, the team of professionals provided the best of their knowledge, they all carry the renovation of the museum on their hearts, the county council chairman declared. Currently, they are still working on the interior spaces, and at the same time, the dendrological park is being renovated, which dr. It is based on the plans of landscape and garden architect Ágnes Herczeg.

The Károly Kós building complex in the narrow sense is organically complemented by the surrounding dendrological park, which presents the characteristic trees of Székelyföld. In the course of the current garden arrangement, nearly ten thousand new plants are planted: trees, shrubs, ground cover plants, flowers, evergreens, forest fruits, and herbs. The value of the external works is nearly three million lei.

"At the end of the renovation, we will have a modern museum with redesigned and modernized exhibition spaces, at the same time the restoration workshops will be renewed, and we will create separate museum pedagogic spaces in order to be able to work with as many children as possible. First of all, we will open the ground floor of the main building to the public, and then we will gradually renew the other exhibitions in the following years. We would like to modernize all our exhibitions, as it is important that they are attractive to future museum visitors as well. The opening is planned for October 2023, we are preparing a new Áron Gábor exhibition, for which we have already successfully applied for HUF 25 million within the framework of the Hungarian Genius program, said Mihály Vargha, the director of the museum.
