Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba admitted to two Russian phone hackers that Ukraine was behind the attacks in Russia's Belgorod Oblast and Crimea, which was annexed by Russia in 2014.
On Thursday, Russian media published the online conversation made by Alexey Stolyarov, known under the pseudonym Lexus, and Vladimir Kuznetsov, known as Vovan, with the head of Ukrainian diplomacy.
The misled Kuleba spoke under the belief that he was dealing with former US Ambassador to Moscow Michael McFaul.
"Crimea is not among the nearest operational targets. But if you ask me who is blowing up in Crimea or Belgorod, I will say face to face that yes, it is us," Kuleba stated in the video recording.
During the long conversation in Russian, the Ukrainian foreign minister also admitted that Kiev prepared the counterattack on the southern part of the front "in close cooperation with partners, primarily the United States and the United Kingdom." He said that he believes that the money already promised to Kyiv by Washington and the European Union will only be enough for Ukraine until the end of the year, which needs about 5 billion dollars a month.
Regarding Kuleba's confession, Russian foreign affairs spokeswoman Marija Zakharova pointed out in her Telegram post on Thursday that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently told the German media that he tried to convince the journalists that Russia "blows up the infrastructure on its own territory " .
