The government's family policy is successful, according to State Secretary Eszter Vitályos, who reported data the other day that although the number of women of childbearing age is decreasing year by year, they are having more and more children in proportion. Crisis here or there, the subsidies will continue to expand next year, according to the plans, there will also be another tax discount in order to give birth to the desired babies.

The state secretary said: in the spirit of the family-friendly policy, the amount of resources intended for families has increased every year since 2010, and it will reach HUF 3,225 billion by 2023, which is more than three times the expenditure in 2010. "The government is constantly working to make it easier to start a family, have a child, and raise them than at any time before. In the past ten years, we have built the most extensive family support system in Europe, which provides help in all life situations to families raising children, including single-parent families."

What does encouraging childbearing mean in practice? In order to ensure that there are no financial barriers to having children, the government restored, for example, the 3-year gyest that was previously taken away by the left, increased and expanded the gyest, and even introduced a grandparent's gyest to facilitate the return to work.

Anyone who has three children does not even have to pay back the ten million baby loan

The amount of the infant care fee has been increased in such a way that in the period after giving birth, mothers will receive more money than they earned before giving birth, or even the entire gross amount of their previous salary, thanks to tax and contribution discounts.

In 2022, the maximum amount of child benefit from the age of six months is 210,000 forints net. It should be known that this amount is also constantly increasing with the increase in the minimum wage, and for a few years it continues even if the mother starts working alongside him.

When giving birth, every woman receives a one-time maternity allowance of HUF 64,000, and the newborn is entitled to a HUF 42,500 baby bond.

The amount of the regular monthly family allowance varies between HUF 12-26 thousand per child, the family tax discount is HUF 20 for one child, HUF 40 for two, and HUF 99 for three.

The home building discount for families (CSOK) ranges from HUF 600,000 to HUF 10 million, which can be supplemented by subsidized loans of HUF 10 million and baby loans of HUF 10 million. In February, the government returned the full amount of the personal income tax paid last year to those with children, which, depending on the earnings, could mean up to HUF 1.6 million for a family. Within the framework of the home renovation program, children with children can receive HUF 3 million in non-refundable support. Since 2020, mothers with four or more children have been exempted from unemployment benefits, and the government has also made it possible for women to retire with full benefits regardless of age after 40 years of service.

Having children does not only mean additional support, but in many cases also the reduction of existing debts.

Debts of many millions of forints can become null and void if a child is born in the family, because after two or three children, the student loan, the university tuition fee, and even the housing loan in some cases are forgiven in whole or in part.

The war situation does not make the job of the decision-makers any easier, but the government promises that family benefits will not suffer in spite of the crisis, and expansions are even expected in this area. Minister Gergely Gulyás announced in the latest government briefing that at least as much money will be spent on families in 2023 as this year. Maternity support is also expected to remain, and significant sums will be spent to help women return to the labor market.

At the CPAC conference in Dallas in August, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán spoke about how

I would like to extend the lifelong SJA exemption to mothers with three children. In addition, there are plans to introduce income tax exemption for women who give birth between the ages of 25 and 30,

which the Club of Young Families (Ficsak) has already welcomed. Nóra Király, the founder and president of the organization, pointed out on the current channel M1 that the measure could save mothers returning to the labor market up to HUF 50,000-100,000 per month.
