Prime Minister Viktor Orbán participated in a joint video conference with Charles Michel, the President of the European Council, Prime Ministers Robert Abela of Malta, Alexander De Croo of Belgium, Kyriakos Mitsotakis of Greece and Robert Golob of Slovenia in preparation for the EU summit in Brussels in the second half of the week, Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister's Office, announced. Head of press office on Monday.
On Thursday and Friday, the European Council will hold a discussion on the war in Ukraine, the energy crisis, economic issues and foreign relations.
The press chief reminded:
VIKTOR ORBÁN SPOKE IN DETAIL ON KOSSUTH RADIO LAST FRIDAY ABOUT THE ISSUES ON THE AGENDA OF THE EU SUMMIT. HE SAID THAT IN BRUSSELS, THE SANCTIONS HAVE BEEN "RIPED AWAY", AND THERE ARE NO PRICE REDUCTION PROPOSALS ASSOCIATED WITH THEM, THAT'S WHY NOW THERE IS SANCTIONED INFLATION AND THE COUNTRY IS PAYING A SANCTIONED SURCHARGE FOR ENERGY.
He added: Hungary has been exempted from all negative sanctions on its energy market, but the problem is that, as part of the common European market, the country is still affected by high energy prices.
The final solution to high energy prices would be if the European Union abandoned its sanctions policy, said Viktor Orbán, indicating that there is still a lot to fight for.
Prior to the video conference preparing the summit, on Monday morning, Thierry Breton, the member of the European Commission responsible for the internal market, was a guest of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán at the Karmelita monastery, Bertalan Havasi said.
