This year, the Metropolitan Municipality will not put up Christmas decorative lighting in the places it manages due to the current economic situation, the Metropolitan Assembly decided on Wednesday. In the spirit of savings, the City Council voted for the proposal.

The board supported Deputy Mayor Kata Tüttő's proposal with 18 yes votes, 3 no votes and 8 abstentions.
HUF 28.3 million can be saved through the measure, and – as written – a significant reduction in carbon dioxide emissions can also be achieved. The former amount is transferred to the general reserve.

According to the Mayor's Office, according to the decision, there will be no decorative lighting, for example, in District V, Váci utca, the section between Vörösmarty tér and Fővám tér and the surrounding small streets, as well as Deák Ferenc utca and Városháza park. The VI. in the district, part of Andrássy út, Oktogon, Nagymező utca, Liszt Ferenc tér will not have Christmas decorations, and in the 1st district there will be no Christmas decorations on Batthyány tér and Clark Ádám tér.
