The search team found another victim of the boat accident in Verőce, the Budapest Police Headquarters announced on Friday afternoon.
According to the announcement, today, on the left bank of the Danube, at the height of Göd, the ship search unit of the National Disaster Management found the body of the 39-year-old man from Dunakes, who disappeared after the water collision on May 18.
The search for the other two missing passengers of the boat that suffered the accident is currently underway, the announcement concluded.
On May 22, 2024, in the afternoon, between Vác and Sződliget, at river kilometer 1675.8 of the Danube, the body of a man was found. The found victim may be 19-year-old Márton Varga, who was named by the police a few days ago as one of the missing persons. The other day, it was revealed that the young man proposed to his girlfriend shortly before the tragedy. In connection with the case, Márton Varga's school also issued a statement on Tuesday, where the 13th-grade pupil, winner of the Ferenc Kiss Award, was still reported as missing.
According to the announcement of the BRFK, there are already four fatalities from the accident, and three people - 30-year-old Olivér Villányi and 19-year-old Daniell Balogh - are still considered missing.
As we wrote, there was a fatal boat accident in Verőce on Saturday night, when a hotel boat collided with a small motorboat. A party on their way home from a party was traveling on the speedboat. The owner and his sister, the girl next door and her lover, and three more friends went to have fun together.
According to the police, there were eight people traveling in the motorboat that collided with the hotel boat, one of whom made it to shore, the bodies of two people were found, but they were looking for several others. The school of the tragic couple also issued a statement regarding what happened.
Mihály Tóth, the spokesperson of the Hungarian National Shipping Association (Mahosz), said on the M1 on Monday:
from the type of motorboat, it can be concluded that the hobby boat was capable of high speed, and judging by the wreckage, it is suspected that it collided at high speed.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Budapest court hearing the case also issued a statement.
