Yesterday, 5,144 people entered Hungary at the Ukrainian-Hungarian border section, while 4,921 of those who entered the Romanian-Hungarian border section declared that they came from Ukraine, MTI said with reference to police.hu.

As they write, the police issued temporary residence certificates to 166 of those admitted, which are valid for 30 days. Within this period, they must visit the office of the National Directorate General of Immigration, which is competent for their place of residence, in order to obtain the final documents.

Before the war in Ukraine, on October 31, 2022, 72 people, including 32 children, arrived in Budapest by train.

At the same time, MTI reports in another news that the EU provides 100 million euros to seven member states to help refugees from Ukraine.

As you can read, the European Commission will release an additional 100 million euros to the seven EU member states that have taken in Ukrainian refugees, Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania , the Brussels body announced on Monday.

The EU Commission announcement reminded that on April 9, the European Union decided to provide a maximum of 400 million euros in support of refugees from Ukraine to the member states most affected by the wave of refugees caused by the Russian-Ukrainian war. The first tranche of 248 million euros was distributed in May to the five frontline countries of the war in Ukraine, Poland, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

The new aid amount awarded on Monday will help the affected member states to continue providing assistance to the Ukrainian refugees, for example by providing them with food and transport. The announcement highlighted: since civil organizations and local and regional authorities play a key role in providing assistance to refugees in Ukraine, the member states must ensure that the relevant organizations and authorities also benefit from EU funding.

It was also announced that the European Commission will release the awarded amount based on the results achieved in the field of accepting and helping refugees, not on the actual costs.

The remaining EUR 52 million of the entire EUR 400 million support framework will be used later to meet emergency needs that may arise, for example, to create accommodation and psychological assistance for refugees from Ukraine, they added.
