In Bezegromania, the lives of those traveling by train are apparently not up to scratch. Knowing last year's data, it can be said that passengers can be happy if the trains are "only" a few hours late, and on certain lines the bicycle might be a faster means of transport than the train.
In 2021, trains in Romania were delayed for a total of 3 million 487 509 minutes, or , according to Digi 24 news television, based on data published by the Ministry of Transport. And instead of progress, we can talk about regression, since in 2020 a delay of one year and eight months less was registered.
The record is held by the year 2018, when the duration of delays reached 4 million 767 238 minutes, which exceeds 9 years. Looking at the numbers for last year, however, it can be said that a train traveling in Romania had an average delay of 3.48 hours for every 100 kilometers traveled.
In Japan, meanwhile, according to the latest data from 2020, one train was delayed by 12 seconds, and this also included times when trains could not or could not run due to natural disasters. In the Eastern country, which is famous for its punctuality, a maximum delay of 30 seconds is allowed.
In 2021, 1,478 passenger trains and 351 freight trains operated in Romania. The state and private railway companies cannot boast about their average speed either: the average speed of passenger trains was 44.68 km/h, and that of freight trains was 15.49 km/h. For comparison, the analysis points out: according to the data of the past years, the average speed of a champion at the Tour de France was 40-41 kilometers per hour.
After that, no one should complain about the Hungarian railways.
