Viktor Orbán can be associated with more and more leading European and non-European politicians, the basis of which is none other than the persistent, successful and credible policy of the prime minister, junior constitutional lawyer Zoltán Lomnici told Magyar Hírlap.
In relation to the national government and its leader, until recently, it was often criticized in the opposition narrative that it was isolated in Europe as a result of its sovereignist, "Hungarian" policy - started the younger constitutional lawyer Zoltán Lomnici when asked by Magyar Hírlap. He added that, due to recent events, it is worth investigating whether the above-mentioned assumption regarding possible isolation holds true. Although there have often been pictures of the Hungarian Prime Minister talking to prominent politicians during breaks in EU or NATO talks, in the last year more and more leading politicians have been caught on camera, which had hardly been seen before, he noted. It was recalled that French Prime Minister Emmanuel Macron arrived in Hungary in December 2021 to hold negotiations with the leaders of the V4 countries, which was followed by a press conference.
Earlier, it seemed that the rule of law procedure or the Russian-Ukrainian war would shake Hungarian-Polish relations, but the parties have repeatedly closed their ranks, he added.
He noted that the Hungarian Prime Minister visited Vienna at the end of July, where Karl Nehamer , where, according to news reports, energy policy was the main topic.
The specialist pointed out that Giorgia Meloni as Italian Prime Minister on September 25, a politician who maintains friendly relations with Hungary was placed in the Italian velvet chair. There was a relationship between the two politicians even before this, since Viktor Orbán gave a speech in Rome three years ago at the invitation of Meloni's party, said Zoltán Lomnici, adding that it was no coincidence that the Prime Minister was one of the first to congratulate the new Italian Prime Minister, who has since then also tweeted wrote about his Hungarian colleague.
Olaf Scholz on October 10 . According to news reports, in addition to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, the European political situation was discussed at the meeting - according to some opinions, the issue of sanctions was the main topic - as well as German-Hungarian trade relations - he underlined. To the surprise of the world press, the consultation was followed by a direct and open forum discussion with representatives of German industry, Zoltán Lomnici pointed out. He pointed out that, after Olaf Scholz, on October 11 Viktor Orbán also met with former German Chancellor Angela Merkel Armin Laschet
Due to the prime minister's negotiating skills, the Hungarian interest representation has not suffered from a shortage so far, but all signs point to the fact that in a Europe full of crises, the integration of the Hungarian economy into the European system, as well as Hungarian border protection and the energy crisis, have opened a new chapter in European diplomacy - he assessed.
He noted that, as can be seen, Viktor Orbán has been able to conduct negotiations with his European colleagues so far, however, in the current environment, when a war conflict is raging on the borders of Europe, and when he is struggling with economic difficulties resulting from this conflict, the position of the Hungarian Prime Minister has increased in value, which obviously further increases the its existing possibilities regarding the representation of our national interests. In terms of the relationship between foreign and domestic politics, it is worth observing the French president, who, as he does not have sufficient stability in his country, was not able to replace Angela Merkel, and - although he held negotiations with the Russian side - he was not able to act properly regarding the situation in Ukraine, as the previous German chancellor did that during the 2014 events related to the Crimean peninsula, the constitutional lawyer added.
In summary, an examination of the specific events reveals that the narrative of the Hungarian Prime Minister's isolation within the European Union is becoming more and more unfounded. It can be associated with more and more leading European and non-European politicians, the basis of which is none other than Viktor Orbán's persistent, successful and credible policy - assessed junior Zoltán Lomnici.
