German lawyer Hans-Georg Maaßen was the president of the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution, i.e. one of the leaders of the German intelligence services, between 2012 and 2018. The interview given to the Internet portal Hallo Meinung on November 4 can be read below.

Viktor Orbán's comment about the German Christian Democratic Party a few weeks ago served as the main phrase of the interview. The Hungarian Prime Minister managed to say that the CDU is a left-wing party. Maaßen proved Orbán right, according to him, the CDU has clearly turned to the left in the last twenty years, under the leadership of Angela Merkel. The change of direction was so successful that they even surpass the social democrats in terms of leftism. According to him, what happens to Viktor Orbán in Europe is what happens to many in Germany: he is ostracized, slandered, and tried to discredit him. Next to Putin, he is considered the main close enemy. The way they treat him, to call him Europe's vilest politician, is unacceptable. On the one hand, because this is not true, and on the other hand, because it is unworthy of a head of state, but also of Hungary itself.

Recently, Giorgia Meloni has been lined up alongside Orbán, who has also been called a radical right-wing populist. Even for the former intelligence chief, what is happening in Europe today is inexplicable. The left calls those who think differently as enemies and fights against them on a pan-European level. Everyone can see how Orbán or Meloni are treated by the "Brussels Soviet" or the left that dominates European capitals. Maaßen advises to be firm and say clearly that these are communists or otherwise eco-socialists who have many supporters in Brussels. For example, also Ursula von der Leyen. They are doing the classic work of disintegration against Orbán and everyone who does not follow the left-wing line of Brussels. The only solution is to show backbone towards them.

The political opponent is dealt with by Stasi or, if you prefer, KGB methods in the Western world. The basis of the method is the use of discrediting, exclusion and spiritual terror. Far-left activists are taught this technique in international "training camps". Trained activists appear everywhere, we find them in the world of media, they use the same method against dissenters. And yet the vast majority of people think differently, even in Germany!

As far as Germany is concerned, Hans-Georg Maaßen sees that the CDU/CSU is currently no longer able to connect with the many millions of people belonging to the conservative bourgeois camp. In the last ten months, it has become clear that the new party chairman, Friedrich Merz, is unfortunately continuing Merkel's policy. The party must clearly distance itself from the Merkel era and its personnel in policy and program, otherwise it will lose the next election. If there is no change and the CDU does not find its way back to the bourgeois conservative direction, it will have to share the ever-thinning left-wing cake with the Greens, the communist successor party Link and the SDP. And this will mean a clear electoral defeat. The center-right voting camp is increasingly disappointed, prefers not to vote, and the vacuum on this side is getting bigger and bigger. The vacuum that has been created must be filled at some point, and it must not be allowed to be done by a radical or extremist party. Millions of people in Germany today feel that no one represents them.

If the CDU wants to be a real conservative political force, it needs to get rid of Angela Merkel and her protégés, they should be expelled from the party. According to Maaßen, "de-Merkelization" is needed, a clear signal given the damage Merkel has done to the party and Germany. The conservatives want to forget the era when the CDU was transformed into a left-wing party, and they expect this distancing from Friedrich Merz as well.

In the interview, Maaßen touched on current German politics. He shares the opinion of those who believe that the Greens are governing Germany to the brink. The top politicians of the Greens lack the necessary education and the life experience necessary for politics. He believes that their selection was deliberate, because their obvious goal is to stupidly transform the German national economy. The Greens want to turn Germany into Cambodia under the Khmer Rouge, where the Germans undertake impoverishment for the sake of carbon neutrality, where they will dictate how much raw materials, how much energy and how much food they can get. The Greens talk about all this openly. The war in Ukraine is also just a cheap excuse that they use. And they don't make the slightest effort to cover it up! They openly celebrate the green transition, while everyone looks away in confusion and pretends to blame Putin for it all.

Regarding migration, the situation is the same as in 2015-2016. Everyone who reads a newspaper and everyone who looks at the street scene sees this. Then 1.1 million migrants came to Germany. In the past year and a half, 1.6 million people came, of which at least 900,000 were not refugees, but immigrants belonging to various categories. 1.6 million people, as much as the entire population of Munich! We would need infrastructure, we would need houses, apartments, food, drink, transport, lots of things. How politically irresponsible it is to accept so many people into the country without taking the necessary preparations and precautions! If Germany really wants to take in so many people, preparations should have started years ago, sufficient living space should have been created. Germans almost don't have their own living space, anyone who is looking for an apartment notices this. The fact that Germany has reached this point is due to the irresponsible policies of Angela Merkel and her ilk, such as the current government. The result is visible: a destabilized Germany. As party leader, Angela Merkel deliberately brought people with similar political orientations to leading positions, and these people themselves then seamlessly continued the socialist and eco-socialist direction of Merkel's CDU.

Maaßen also touched on climate activists in the interview. Chaos-causing climate activists have now appeared in Germany, sticking themselves to various places, elegant cars, busy roads, pouring tomato soup on paintings, and dirtying party offices. According to him, a double standard has been used in judging political crimes for years. Everything that is supposed to serve the climate, that is green and eco-socialist, is tolerated. The police hardly take any action against them, and if they do, it is very lenient. They call themselves climate activists, even though they are extreme climate criminals, ordinary climate terrorists. According to him, these expressions would be appropriate. The euphemism obscures the reality, the serious criminal background of these political crimes. He believes that what we are seeing is the result of the political development of the last few years, the self-development process of democracy and the rule of law, it should be accepted. This has led to the support of the extreme left on the political scene.

As president of the Office for the Protection of the Constitution, Maaßen tried to normalize German domestic intelligence. He wanted to make it an internal affairs intelligence service that did not monitor political parties. Although Germany's constitution allows for this, there is no Office for the Protection of the Constitution subordinated to a government made up of parties in the liberal world to monitor political opponents. At first, Maaßen succeeded in placing constitutional protection on a normal, so to speak, rule of law basis. In the course of his work, he achieved that the parties were left alone. For this reason, he received nothing but praise from all directions. As of 2014, the secret service did not check the left-wing Linke, which was considered extremist. Not because they have suddenly changed, they are more extreme today than they have ever been. The Linke is now a far-left party that wants another Germany, a communist Germany.

In the meantime, the AfD, the party that its opponents called far-right, was formed. At the beginning of 2017, the government instructed the office to put the AfD under surveillance. They put pressure on it, the Merkel government wanted it to screen the party in at least one province, before the provincial election. Both his personal opinion and his professional position were rejection of this. It's a shame that this professional position no longer exists in the intelligence services, even though a federal Constitutional Protection Office that is far from politics and not connected in any way to the federal government would be greatly needed.

(Hans-Georg Maaßen was dismissed from his position with immediate effect in the autumn of 2018. During the Chemnitz riots, a video was made public in which far-right elements attacked migrants at a demonstration. The aim was obviously to discredit the AfD, Angela Merkel was personally horrified when she saw the images. Maaßen, on the other hand, announced that these were fake, manipulated recordings.)
