On Wednesday, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán welcomed XXI. Armenian Catholic Patriarch Péter Rafael, who presented the Hungarian Prime Minister with the Holy Cross Medal of Gratitude, Bertalan Havasi, the prime minister's press chief, informed MTI.

According to the rationale, Hungary and Viktor Orbán personally provide valuable support to oppressed and persecuted Christians worldwide. "We greatly appreciate your unconditional commitment to Christians to protect their lives and preserve their moral and social values," read the eulogy.

In his acceptance speech, Viktor Orbán recalled the thoughts of King Szent István, who already a thousand years ago considered it extremely important in his Intelmei that the Hungarian state should always support and help Christianity and the church - explained Bertalan Havasi.
