Domestic natural gas storage tanks reached 85 percent capacity by November 1. The amount of natural gas stored was 1.73 billion cubic meters, almost 50 percent higher than the filling level prescribed for this date in the gas storage regulation of the European Union - it can be read on the website of the Hungarian Energy and Public Utilities Regulatory Authority.

As they write, according to the data of November 1, the capacity of domestic natural gas storage facilities was 5.38 billion cubic meters, which is 85 percent of the total capacity. This amount is 500 million cubic meters more than the amount on November 1, 2021.

Based on the schedule defined in the gas storage regulation of the European Union, Hungary had to compulsorily store 35 percent of its five-year average consumption, which is 3.65 billion cubic meters, by November 1. Thanks to the faster storage, by November 1, our country exceeded the amount stipulated in the decree by 1.73 billion cubic meters, i.e. by almost 50 percent.

The annual consumption rate was 53.8 percent on November 1, which is 25.7 percent more than the average capacity of European natural gas storage facilities. The stored 5.38 billion cubic meters of natural gas exceeds the annual residential consumption (135.75%).

Hungary's natural gas supply remains uninterrupted. Depending on the needs of the market participants and the weather, the domestic natural gas storage facilities and their associated technical infrastructure may also operate in storage mode in the following period.
