The delegation of the European Parliament's culture and education committee arrived in Budapest with preconceived notions, one can see what conclusions they will reach in Brussels next week - Andrea Bocskor, Fidesz MEP, spoke to MTI about the experience of the visit.

The Hungarian EP representative pointed out: the last two days were very intense, a lot of information was shared. He recalled that they did not agree with the compilation of the program from the beginning, even though the head of the delegation repeatedly stated that; is balanced.

At the same time, there were panels on which mediums and actors clearly linked to left-liberal circles appeared. The meeting with civil organizations and academic actors was also one-sided, he said. He added: the Freeszfe Association was invited, but not the university management itself. At all costs, they wanted to make people believe that the model change was negative, and that the other party did not have the opportunity to outline the positives of the model change, how the university benefits from it.

"The program was one-sided," said Andrea Bocskor, who said that the questions themselves were not always correct. The presiding president came with the question that academic freedom is being suppressed, isn't there academic freedom and teachers only dare to speak behind closed doors. The question was also raised as to whether photos can be taken, or whether those present are afraid that photos will be taken, he said.

The delegation arrived with a preconception and "it is clear in what direction the conclusions they will draw" - concluded the Hungarian EP representative.

Bulgarian MEP Andrej Slabakov He emphasized: it must not be forgotten that education is a task under the sovereign competence of the nation-state, as is health care, and that the European Union cannot make categorical decisions. In the latter case, the union turns into a "European Soviet Union, a Soviet republic".

"I know what it's like when the instructions come from Moscow," said the Bulgarian politician, emphasizing that he is on the side of a Europe of sovereign states, because this is the basic idea of the union. He also went on to say that there are no big differences in terms of media in individual countries, freedom of speech is not a problem, rather the problem is when freedom of speech is misused. The representative considered it natural that some media are not financed by the state. In the entire European Union, problems arise more from the lack of independent media.

2022 plus:

It's a shame to sulk, the Commission came to our country with a truly balanced program. Approximately in such a way that a bag was placed in one pan of the scale and also in the other. A bag of cement in one, and a bag of goose feathers in the other. Well, one and one! Their correct questions also speak for themselves, because the ones starting with "right" don't want to suggest the answer, do they? Oh no!

For a long time, we have not understood the endless patience with which Hungary accepts these putty companies (under the guise of the Commission). But if anything, we should at least formally indicate how correct we think their "examinations" are. For example, by designating the Great Circus in Főváros as the venue for the "auditions". There, the questioning and answering clowns could bid on each other and blow their own.
