It was published in the Magyar Közlöny, making the new price cap decree of the Hungarian government official. In addition to the previous ones, the temporary price restriction covers two new products, table potatoes and eggs.
In November 2022, the government decided to extend the price cap for certain basic foods. The price restriction already applies to hen's eggs and table potatoes, while it also applies to the previously indicated products unchanged until December 31, 2022.
Accordingly, the price regulation covers the following products:
• granulated sugar
• fine wheat flour (BL 55)
• refined sunflower cooking oil
• homemade pork leg
• chicken breast, chicken back, chicken back, chicken tail, chicken wing tip
• ultra-high temperature heat-treated cow's milk with 2.8% fat
(the price of these products cannot be higher than the daily price of October 15, 2021)
• chicken eggs
• table potatoes, with the exception of new potatoes
(the price of these products cannot be higher than the daily price of September 30, 2022)
An important condition is that if the price applied on October 15, 2021 or September 30, 2022 was a price applied during a sale, discount, sale, seasonal discount, promotional sale, then the price before the discounted sale must be used.
Traders must post information about price regulation in a clearly visible place at the entrance of the shops, and in the case of mail order trade, publish it on the home page, in accordance with the form and content requirements contained in the relevant decree.
Compliance with the rules is checked by the general consumer protection authority, i.e. the county and capital government offices, with the involvement of the National Food Chain Safety Office. Violation of the rules can be punished by a fine or the closing of the shop.
