In its current form, the chairman of the legal committee of the Hungarian Automobile Club considers the limitation of the number of parking spaces in Terezváros to be worrisome. According to Kázmér Kovács, the measure may even conflict with the Basic Law. The sixth district announced on Monday that, in agreement with the Metropolitan Municipality, only parking spaces that can be used by local residents will be designated. In other words, even less space remains for those who do not live there. The capital advised those coming to the theater to take a taxi, for example, the M1 News reported.

The signage of exclusive residential parking zones has begun in Terézváros. As a result, parking will be prohibited in more and more places from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. Only local residents will be able to use the spaces designated for vehicles. Anyone who does not have a permanent address in Terezváros in the given zone will be punished without exception from October.

Tamás Soproni, the temporary mayor of Terezváros, partially explained the reform package by saying that it will give more to trees, pensioners and people in wheelchairs.

However, the restrictions don't end there. Chief of Staff Gergely Karácsony announced: In Erzsébetváros and XIII. residential parking zones will also be introduced in the district, which will affect thousands of motorists in the capital.

On Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m., over a cup of coffee at home, Gergely Karácsony told the citizens of the capital on his social media page that he strictly observes his working hours, according to which he does not work a minute longer, and then spoke approvingly of the new parking plan.

Some of the people of Budapest consider the measure to be ill-considered, while others think that in a European capital, punishment should not be a means of control.

Dániel Manhalter, one of the politicians from the South of Denmark, spoke in an interview about the fact that the entire left agrees with the restrictions on people driving in the capital. But this policy is also represented by the chief of staff of Gergely Karácsony, who is running for prime minister. On Monday, Samu Balogh told the citizens of the capital to take a bus or call a taxi if they have something to do.

"In the case of catering establishments and theaters, guests can be expected to arrive mainly by public transport or taxi, or in some other way," said Samu Balogh, Gergely Karácsony's chief of staff.

A municipal decision implemented with the approval of the capital is worrisome in its form, both because of the size of the businesses and the designated zones, Kázmér Kovács told M1. The chairman of the legal committee of the Hungarian Automobile Club stated that the measure could even conflict with the Basic Law, which is why their detailed rules are being investigated.

"What if this continues in XIII. district or the other neighboring districts, we are not aware of alternatives in such a proportion as this provision was proposed to be introduced. It is correct that, over a period of time, but even then, regulating it in this way may even cause constitutional problems," said Kázmér Kovács.

In recent months, Budapest's anti-car measures, according to many, have been a source of constant tension in Budapest.

Last year, bike lanes were painted on Nagykörút, and then a bus lane was designated on Andrássy út. This year, at the beginning of summer, several renovations were started at the same time, which caused traffic jams in recent weeks.
