The Fidesz-KDNP candidate, Zoltán Szollár, won the Szekszárd interim local government election with a difference of two hundred and forty-four votes, with more than 58 percent of the votes.

With this, the candidate of the governing parties defeated László Jantner, the candidate of the left-wing Éljen Szekszárd Association, and László Babos, who ran in the colors of Mi Hazánk Mozgalom, who won 38.49 (475 votes) and 3.24 (40 votes) percent of the votes.

In 2019, the then Fidesz candidate could only win with eight votes, 47.2-46.7 percent. The success of the governing parties is also significant because Szekszárd passed the majority of the assembly. As a result, there will be no change in the balance of power, but if the left-wing candidate wins, the opposition would have gained the upper hand in the representative body. The participation rate in Sunday's voting was relatively high, 45 percent.

By-elections had to be held in individual electoral district No. 4 in Szekszárd because the former Fidesz representative of the electoral district died in July. After it became clear that Fidesz-KDNP would nominate Zoltán Szollár to fill the post left vacant by the death of Polixéna Csillagné Szánthó, the left-wing Éljen Szekszárd - in order to organize the representative mandates necessary for their majority - began to discredit and blackmail the Fidesz candidate. It was claimed that Szollár is doing nothing but "farigcs", he is not active as a civilian either, and his campaign is based only on promises. However, contrary to their claims, the well-known master woodcarver regularly organizes programs as the leader of the "Fősővárosi" Circle (joint cooking, Christmas tree setting, wine auctions, collections) and also revived the farewell party in Szekszárd.
