On the occasion of Children's Day, on the last Sunday of May every year, playgrounds, parks, and museums are filled to entertain children with colorful programs, the State Secretariat for Families of the Ministry of Culture and Innovation wrote in a statement sent to MTI.

They pointed out: since the family-friendly revolution of 2010, the civilian government has been working to make it easier and easier to start a family, have and raise children in Hungary. "We will continue to do everything we can to ensure peace and security for families, so that every stage of childhood can be spent in peace and safety," the State Secretariat emphasized.

For the government, the child comes first. In the past more than a decade, we have adopted a number of family-friendly measures aimed at ensuring that all desired children can be born and that families can raise them safely, they wrote.

Among other things, the government introduced support for childbearing, child rearing, home building and home renovation. The establishment of family-friendly maternity hospitals, increasing the number of nursery places, and other measures for the well-being of families - for example, the provision of free textbooks, increasing the amount spent on children's meals, Elizabeth camps - are also of great help to families raising children - they listed.

They added that, thanks to the family tax and contribution discount, between 2010 and 2022, almost HUF 4,000 billion in tax and contribution payments remained for families raising children. The State Secretariat highlighted:

Hungarian families can count on the government even in times of crisis, part of this is that families who took on a huge burden during the coronavirus epidemic got their personal income tax paid back last year; the measure, which had never been seen before, already supported those raising children with around HUF 685 billion.

Even in the midst of the European energy crisis and the war going on next door, families can count on the government, which still considers its most important task to protect the family support system built up over the past 12 years and preserve the safety of families - they emphasized, stating that the Hungarian government will continue to support Hungarian families in the future works to strengthen and protect it.

The State Secretariat wrote:

on Children's Day, let's not forget the children who found safety in Hungary due to the war in Ukraine.

"Our country provides all assistance to families staying temporarily or for a longer period of time in Hungary, including nursery care, kindergarten education, school education and, if necessary, medical and hospital care for children. We hope that during their time in Hungary, they will somehow manage to forget the trials caused by the war, and that when the armed conflict finally ends, they will have the opportunity to return home as soon as possible," the statement reads.
