Adopt a cross! The Christian Democratic People's Party (KDNP) is launching a nationwide initiative to save, renovate and preserve crosses in public areas of settlements and along roads.

Csaba Latorcai , the executive secretary of the party, the parliamentary state secretary responsible for regional development at the Prime Minister's Office, said at the rededication of a recently renewed Baja cross: crosses are not just religious symbols.

The crosses are the symbols of the two-thousand-year-old European and Hungarian culture, thanks to which Hungarians found a home, remained and, we hope, will continue to prosper here in the Carpathian Basin - he said, adding: the crosses are also points of alignment in a moral, cultural and physical sense. .

The KDNP embraced the initiative that started in Baja and intends to make it a national action. With this, he wants to draw attention to the fact that "while the crosses are being removed from various community places in the western part of Europe, we Hungarians are preserving our heritage together and working together," he said.

As an exclamation mark, the crosses say: to preserve our Christianity, our unique culture, "because this is the only real opportunity for alignment and orientation in the 21st century," said the state secretary.

Csaba Latorcai announced: the member organizations of the KDNP have undertaken to renew 44 crosses by the end of 2023.

Interested citizens, institutions, and businesses can indicate where and which cross they plan to renovate by e-mail at podagjorokbeegykeresztet@kdnp.hu, he said.
