Now there is only one thing to strive for, to avert the danger, and there is only one way to avert the immediate danger, by a cease-fire; "we want peace and a ceasefire," Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said on Wednesday in Belgrade.

The Prime Minister met with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer, and then highlighted at their joint press conference: Polish citizens died on Tuesday, and it is important to express our sympathy and to make ourselves aware that since there is a war next door, we are therefore in danger.

He believed that we are in danger in an economic sense, but also in a physical sense. The fact that Poland lost lives on its own territory clearly shows that if there is a war in your neighbor, you are not safe either, he said.

The prime minister said that the fact that the oil supply from the east to Hungary stopped on Tuesday clearly shows that the economy is also in danger.

He emphasized: if you, your citizens and your economy are in danger, then you must strive for one thing to avert this danger". There is only one way to do this, with a ceasefire; we want peace and a ceasefire - stated Viktor Orbán.

Hungary supports Serbia's EU membership

Hungary continues to urge the European Union to allow full membership of Serbia as soon as possible, Viktor Orbán stated.

The prime minister emphasized that Serbia's membership in the European Union is in the European interest, and it would be much easier to defend against migration if Serbia was already in the European Union.

He said: until this happens, the only goal can be to push the defense lines as far south as possible and to create a joint border defense force with Serbia and Austria. Hungary will make the personnel and technical equipment necessary for this immediately available, he said.

According to Viktor Orbán, "this problem, which we call migration, will live with us for a longer time", so we must strive for long-term cooperation and lasting structures.
