"The sanctions policy is a step towards war. Although it is an economic measure, if someone intervenes in a military conflict by means of sanctions, he also takes a position and takes a step in the direction of one of the warring parties, that is, war," said the Prime Minister.
Viktor Orbán on Radio Kossuth Good morning, Hungary! he gave an interview to his show on Friday morning.
"If there is a war in your neighborhood, you cannot feel safe either physically or economically," said the prime minister at the beginning of the conversation.
"Cease fire, peace negotiations!" Viktor Orbán stated the two most important next steps.
He explained: the sanctions policy is a step towards war.
"The sanctions policy is a step towards war. Although it is a measure of an economic nature, if someone intervenes in a military conflict through sanctions, then one of the warring parties takes a position and takes a step in the direction of war," said the prime minister. Sanction measures have been continuously strengthened, in fact, we are now slowly having to finance Ukraine's operations. We are slipping into war step by step, Orbán said.
We want peace, but no one but us follows our position, he added.
"With the sanctions, we are ruining ourselves economically, now there is a sanction surcharge and sanction inflation," said the Prime Minister.
This inflation was caused by political decisions.
Regarding the ninth sanctions package, the prime minister said that we always fought for exceptions. The sanctions policy is not a good European policy, which is why we are fighting for an exemption that suits Hungarian interests. This policy must be continued, and that is why national consultation is important, he said.
Speaking about sanctioned inflation, the Prime Minister said:
Hungary cannot aim to become an untouchable island within the European Union.
It can aim to protect its basic interests and try to reduce the effects of the EU's bad policy."
"We don't want to hide the problem, and that's why we need to act," he stated.
It is true that troubles come from outside, but if you freeze, you will be ruined. Hungary will not give up, this is the starting point, added Orbán.
The government has an 11-point action plan, the prime minister pointed out. He recalled the recent price cap on eggs and potatoes, and reminded that the price cap currently applies to eight products. The prime minister underlined that the maintenance of the utility reduction even up to the average consumption is one of the defensive measures. He pointed out: this means HUF 180,000 per family, which is how much more families should pay for utilities.
According to the prime minister, all governance consists of evaluating things learned from experience. "After the election, when the government was formed, there were no sanctions, but since then the sanctions have arrived, and because of this, high energy prices will be with us for a longer time, and the structure of the government must also adapt to this," explained the Prime Minister, justifying the establishment of the new Ministry of Energy.
Speaking about the energy crisis, the prime minister said: "the prices are skyrocketing." So it is not only necessary to ensure that we have energy, but also to make it affordable." He explained: "If we get the energy from abroad, we can only have a small influence on its price. Therefore, the amount of domestically produced energy must be increased in the coming years. This is the other task of Minister Csaba Lantos, I asked him to stand at the head of the Hungarian energy issue, take political responsibility for it, make and present the most important related decisions to the government. I think he will cope with this task."
"Whoever pays the musician orders the sheet music," said Orbán regarding the left's American campaign funds. He added: "The question is where the note was ordered from, who paid for it and what had to be done."
We have good reason to be shocked, but according to the prime minister, the situation is simple.
"In the period before the elections in Hungary, some of the parties seeking the trust of the Hungarians were paid from abroad," said Orbán. It is about amounts that are clearly visible to the naked eye, millions of dollars, he added.
He explained: it is certainly against Hungary's national interests to interfere in the elections from abroad.
This is a scam for Hungarian citizens, said the prime minister.
