The opposition parties all claim that Péter Márki-Zay did not inform them about the support coming from the United States in the campaign, which support they did not know about until the former candidate for prime minister spoke about it in public, 24.hu highlighted in its article.

At the same time, Márki-Zay emphasized to the portal that the expenses were coordinated with the six parties. The former candidate for prime minister told 24.hu: if the Hungarian media, in addition to the American one, knew this fact already during the campaign period, then I see little chance that it would have been a secret from the parties that check the MMM's campaign expenses daily in their own interest. I visited the country, I did not arrange the expenses and I did not approve them, but the campaign management, which made the daily decisions, in consultation with the six parties every day, thus ensuring, for example, that no illegal party financing could occur.

The mayor of Hódmezővásárhely expressed the amount of the total support of 1.8 billion as follows: I didn't know then either, because we didn't receive any promises about this in advance, we only made the total when we finished the first transparent campaign accounting in Hungarian political history, which we are extremely proud of . The amount of the support was a pleasant surprise for us as well, we are very grateful for it on behalf of all Hungarians. It is unfortunate that in terms of available media surfaces and campaign spending, we still barely reached one or two percent of the resources of the Fidesz campaign machine, so we were not able to effectively refute the lying slanders of the state party.

24.hu emphasized that the subsequent payment could have happened because the subcontractors and companies participating in the campaign issued the invoice for the work done in many cases only after the election day, even weeks later. Even in comparison, it takes several weeks to complete the payment: that is why it was possible for MMM to pay the costs of the campaign in May or even in the summer. The portal writes: "According to this, Action for Democracy was essentially the financial security in the opposition campaign, the "gentleman" who elegantly pays the remaining bills after the party."
