According to preliminary data, 7,361 children were born in October and 10,808 died. Between November 2021 and October 2022, the number of births decreased by 3.9 percent, the number of deaths by 8.3 percent, and the number of marriages by 6.4 percent compared to the period a year earlier, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) informed MTI on Monday.

In October, 7,361 children were born, 12 percent or 978 fewer than a year earlier. 10,808 people died, 8.7 percent, 1,032 less than in October 2021. The natural weight loss was 3,447 people compared to 3,501 in October 2021, they said.

4,712 couples got married, which is 11 percent, 579 less than last October.

As it was written, 88,834 children were born between November 2021 and October 2022, 3.9 percent or 3,585 less than in the previous 12 months.

In January-October of this year, 5.4 percent fewer children were born, including 11 in January-April, a decrease of 8.2 percent in August-October, and an increase of 4.1 percent in May-July compared to the same period in 2021.

The estimated value of the total fertility rate per woman was 1.53 compared to 1.58 for the previous 12 months, they added.

According to KSH data, 144,169 people died between November 2021 and October 2022, 8.3 percent or 12,970 less than in the previous 12 months.

The number of deaths fell by 9.3 percent in January-October of this year, including 4.4 in January, 21 percent in March-June, and 5.5 percent in September-October, while it increased by 4.9 percent in February and 6 percent in July-August compared to the same period of the previous year.

They added that the number of births decreased to a lesser extent than the number of deaths, as a result of which the natural loss was 55,335 people, which is 15 percent lower than the value of 64,720 people in the previous 12 months.

In the past year, 66,260 couples got married, 6.4 percent or 4,500 less than in the previous 12 months.

In January-October this year, the number of marriages decreased by 9 percent; in January-April, 10 percent less, in June-September 11 percent less, and in May 3.6 percent more, compared to the same months of 2021.

There were 9.2 live births and 14.9 deaths per thousand inhabitants. Live births were 0.3 and deaths 1.3 percentage points lower than in November 2020 - October 2021, as a result, natural weight loss decreased by 0.9 percentage points to 5.7 percentage points.

There were 3.4 infant deaths per thousand live births, which is 0.1 percentage points more than in the previous 12 months. The marriage rate was 6.8 per thousand, 0.4 percentage points lower than in the period a year earlier, they wrote.
