László Nagy was also interviewed by demokrata.hu last year. He said that on October 23, 2006, he participated in the commemoration of Fidesz, not the anti-government demonstrations, although he added that of course he himself felt that it was justified that people took to the streets. However, he wanted nothing more than to somehow get home, seeing the increasingly toxic situation. After the uniformed people pushed the participants of the assembly onto the protesting crowd, László fled with several of them into Dob Street, they wanted to avoid the police raid. However, an unidentified police officer fired a shot at him at close range, and the bullet hit one of his eyes. His life was only thanks to the fact that an ambulance was parked nearby, so they were able to take him to the hospital immediately.
The bullet that pierced his eye socket was operated on through the roof of his mouth. The intervention was done quickly, but recovery took a long time, and he had to return for treatment for years. He couldn't even go to work because of the long rehabilitation. And his visual impairment greatly reduced the number of jobs for which he was thus suitable.

– I lost not only half of my eye, but practically everything, my relationship of twelve years was also ruined, I lost my apartment and my job. This cannot be processed - said László Nagy at the time.
