The leader of the Fidesz-KDNP faction in Budapest wrote to the mayor to get an answer on how much allowance Dávid Korányi, former advisor of Gergely Karácsony, Hungarian leader of Action for Democracy, received.
Zsolt Wintermantel told journalists on Thursday that it is common knowledge that Dávid Korányi "was the mayor's personal chief advisor, he organized the fund-raising from America, the background institution Action for Democracy, which provided HUF 3 billion in support to the left's campaign."
WE ARE WAITING FOR ANSWERS TO WHAT DAVID KORANYI'S CONTRACT WAS ABOUT, WHAT WORTHY WORK HE DID, DID HE RECEIVE A SEPARATE BENEFIT, EXPENSE REIMBURSEMENT, HOUSING OR TRAVEL SUBSIDIES
- listed Zsolt Wintermantel, and then raised the question: "how much did Dávid Korányi's trip to America cost Budapest taxpayers in total?"
The letter was also reported by Fidesz in the capital on its social media page, where it was written: "the left-wing city administration provided a well-paying, comfortable job to an old good friend of Karácsony who, as the executive director of Action for Democracy, juggled several billion HUF in American money in the past year." Added:
DUE TO PUBLIC PRESSURE, KÁRÁCSONY FIRED KORANY FROM HIS ADVISORY POSITION, BUT HE IS STILL OWED TO THE BUDAPESTIANS WITH ANSWERS.
