Gergely Karácsony can be safely said that if you give him a cube, he will spoil it too. Now it's the Chain Bridge's turn, and since Gergely Karácsony is trying to continue his success propaganda, this time the mayor is trying to cover up the failures of the past years with the partial handover of the Chain Bridge on Friday. Unsuccessfully: the reality is that the renovation, which started with a one-and-a-half-year delay, will be carried out five billion forints more expensively and with reduced technical content - that is, of a lower quality - compared to the original tender launched under the leadership of former mayor István Tarlós. In its compilation, Origo reveals the shortcomings of the investment, the reasons for the delay and the increase in costs. We'll see from that!

Gergely Karácsony and the left-wing City Hall are trying to incense the renovation of the Lánchíd after the delivery of the delayed and more expensive Blaha Lujza tér investment. The mayor dedicated several Facebook posts to announcing that Lánchida will be reopened to the public on Friday afternoon. "The renovation of the Chain Bridge is progressing according to the original schedule and within the budget! This is worth mentioning in itself, because this is not how such huge investments usually go in our country. But this, the renovation of the Chain Bridge, is an investment in the capital..." - said Karácsony with a lot of arrogance on his social media page. The reality, on the other hand, shows much more modest results than the success propaganda of the mayor tries to show.

THE CHAIN BRIDGE IS A WORK AREA UNTIL IT IS COMPLETELY HANDOVERED, THE CONSTRUCTION CONTINUES WITH, AMONG OTHERS, THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE PAVEMENT, THEREFORE, THE BRIDGE CAN BE PEDESTRIATED ONLY AFTER THE COMPLETION OF THE NEXT PHASE OF RENOVATION, EXPECTED IN THE AUTUMN OF 2023.

Karácsony's statement that "the renovation of the Chain Bridge is progressing according to the original schedule and within the budget" is also a lie because the mayor forgot to mention the fact that in fact

THE INVESTMENT IS REALIZED WITH A SLIP OF ONE AND A HALF YEARS AND MORE THAN FIVE BILLION FORINTS MORE EXPENSIVE.

Moreover, the Budapest Transport Center received a public procurement fine for the project.

Zsolt Wintermantel, the leader of the Fidesz-KDNP faction in the capital, recently drew the attention of the Hungarian Nation to the mayor's lies. He explained that the renovation of the Chain Bridge will not only cost five billion forints more, but also with reduced technical content, since the Váralagut and István Széchenyi Square will not be renovated compared to the original plans. The public procurement tendered by the former capital city government led by István Tarlós also included these works.

In the light of all this, the fact that the bridge is half-completed at a much higher cost and that traffic is partially opened on it, while the actual function of one of Budapest's historical attractions can only be decided next summer, is not a success in any way.
