After this year's increase of more than 50 percent, more and more people will apply for asylum in the European Union in the coming years, according to the Community's Asylum Agency (EUAA).

Instability and threats to people's security are "characteristics of today's world", and "unfortunately not temporarily", so the number of asylum applications may continue to increase in the coming years, EUAA head Nina Gregori told Berliner Morgenpost on the German newspaper's news portal in a compilation published on Monday.

By the end of October this year, almost 790,000 asylum applications were submitted in the EU, 54 percent more than a year earlier, explained the head of the Malta-based organization, adding that "geopolitical developments" are forcing more and more people to flee, so the EU more people are also arriving, and the trend even strengthened at the end of the year.

The statement does not include the 4.7 million people who fled Ukraine to the EU due to the Russian attack, because they are automatically granted temporary protection in all countries of the community without any special procedure. Their influx "put significant pressure" on the asylum systems of the member states, but by applying the EU directive on temporary protection, it was possible to avoid their collapse, explained Nina Gregori.

He emphasized: he supports the effort to complete the EU asylum and migration administration reform before the 2024 European Parliament elections based on the European Commission's proposals, the essence of which is more effective control of the community's external border, the rapid repatriation of rejected asylum seekers and refugees solidarity distribution between member states.

2022 plus:

The problem is that we have known this for a long time without any evidence. It is also a problem that we know the intentions of the EU regarding illegal migration, we know that there is a gap between the declared intentions and the real aspirations. While they preach about border protection, they are actually obstructing real border protection. On the other hand, even today they insist on the distribution of illegal immigrants according to quotas, at best they give the child a different name. As for the "rapid repatriation" of rejected asylum seekers, one would have a fit of laughter when seeing the EU practice in this matter - if one didn't feel like crying. It would also be interesting to see EUAA statistics on how many illegal immigrants this repatriation has represented so far. Of course, they do not serve with such a statement, because it would prove nothing more than how the left-liberal, liberal-Bolshevik majority of the Union violates the norms and rules accepted by all countries over the decades.

As in all other cases, the European Commission lies - at the behest of the European Parliament - about what its intentions really are.
