The government is committed to increasing teachers' wages as much as possible, said the Parliamentary State Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior in a video uploaded to his social media site on Monday.
Bence Rétvári recalled that in 2022 the "widest consultation of all time" was held in education matters. The teachers were asked during the summer and autumn, and 24,000 and 33,000, respectively, returned their answers, and during the winter, almost 130,000 parents answered the series of questions about the school.
In December, four hundred teachers and school principals were consulted personally, meanwhile the negotiations were continuous both at the meetings of the public education round table and the strike committee, the politician added.
Bence Rétvári emphasized:
the government is committed to increasing teachers' wages as much as possible, for which they want to use not only domestic but also European Union funds.
If this is realized - he said - then in 2023 the teacher salary increase will not be 10, but 21 percent, in 2024 it will not be 10, but 25, and in 2025 a 29 percent salary increase may be realized. With this, the average salary of a teacher can be HUF 777,000 with a 75 percent salary increase in three years, the state secretary added.
