The year 2022 was the year of the acting nation in national politics, said the State Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office responsible for national policy in a video shared on his Facebook page on Saturday.

János Árpád Potápi said that the year was defined by joint action: in April 2022, "the nation decided its fate together again".

He added that 318,083 Hungarians living abroad took part in the parliamentary elections, and almost 94 percent of them voted to "continue the work that has been started".

Thanking the Hungarians abroad for their support, the state secretary noted that the Russian-Ukrainian war conflict that erupted after the epidemic situation represents another challenge for the entire Hungarian nation, but especially for the Transcarpathian Hungarians.

"Hungarians - here and beyond the border - unite to help the Transcarpathian Hungarian community," emphasized János Árpád Potápi.

He continued by saying that they will not give up their strategic goals, and that even in this difficult situation, they will do everything to continue the national unification that began in 2010: 1,150,000 Hungarians living abroad have already become Hungarian citizens, 5,400 investments have been made abroad, and they continue to contribute 300 for the mother tongue education of thousands of children and young people. In addition, they ensure the continuous operation of the Hungarian institutional system abroad - listed the state secretary.

"In the fields of culture, youth, churches, sports and the economy, we are thinking of a unified Carpathian basin space, a unified nation," emphasized János Árpád Potápi.

About 2023, he said, they will continue to build together.

"As we stated in the final statement of the Hungarian Standing Conference: the common interest of all members of the Hungarian nation is peace as soon as possible," he said. We trust that the year 2023 will bring peace to Europe - emphasized János Árpád Potápi.
