It is clearer than ever that the punitive measures have failed and must be abolished. However, Brussels and many EU member states are sticking to the sanctions, said a member of the European Parliament of Fidesz on Kossuth Radio on Monday.

For the eleventh month now, guns have been ringing in Ukrjana. In the past year, there was no sign that the parties would make peace within a short period of time. The European Union supports the Ukrainian state led by Volodymyr Zelenskiy with billions of euros so that it does not collapse financially. In addition, the EU and several member states also send weapons to the Ukrainians.

And Brussels punishes Moscow with various measures. The European Commission firmly believes that these steps will force Vladimir Putin to the negotiating table. Despite Brussels' efforts, however, the guns in Ukraine have not yet fallen silent.

On the other hand, there is an energy crisis in Europe due to energy prices that have run wild due to sanctions, which has also led to wartime inflation.

"I can happily tell you that we have adopted the 9th sanctions package," was how Charles Michell, the president of the European Council, announced the latest punitive measures against Russia in mid-December last year.

However, it seems that the ninth package of sanctions will not be the last.

To support Ukraine, to burden Russia with sanctions - this is how you can summarize the goals of Sweden, which holds the presidency of the Union until June of this year. The prime minister of the Scandinavian state, Ulf Kristensson, has made it one of his tasks to ensure EU unity behind the sanctions.

The representative of the European Parliament of Fidesz put it this way: it is clearer than day that the punitive measures have failed.

He highlighted: they said that the sanctions would cause serious damage to Russia and end the war. He added: On the other hand, Moscow's economic difficulties are smaller than the economic problems caused by the sanctions for the European Union, and there is no end in sight to the war.

Sanctions have failed, sanctions must be abolished.

Civilians Info:

It is clearly visible that there are narrow-minded, one might say brain-dead officials in EU positions, who not only lack the intelligence for politics, but also do not even have minimal historical knowledge. Because if they were to turn the pages back in their own history books, it would be enough, for example, if they studied the Napoleonic times. They should just run through the part where Napoleon declared a continental trade blockade against Great Britain. A series of sanctions followed, but it did not shake British industry and trade as much as they had hoped.

Of course, many other historical examples of failed sanctions policies could be listed. So it would not hurt the functionaries who consider themselves to be politicians to spend some energy on history, which is known to repeat itself.
