The stock of government securities increased to HUF 36,395 billion by the end of November, which is HUF 2,426 billion, a 7 percent increase compared to a month earlier, the Magyar Nemzeti Bank (MNB) announced the latest securities account data.

According to data from the central bank, the stock of long-term HUF government securities increased by 5.81 percent to HUF 25,432 billion by the end of November, while short-term bonds rose by 13.41 percent to HUF 2,731 billion. The stock of government securities issued in foreign currency increased by 8.74 percent to HUF 8,771 billion compared to October.

At the end of November, financial companies accounted for 41.01 percent, households and the non-profit sector accounted for 27.58 percent, and foreigners for 29.24 percent.

Within the ownership distribution of the market value stock of securities issued by the central government, the stock increased in November in all sectors. The holdings of financial companies increased by HUF 1,112 billion, those of foreigners by HUF 1,185 billion, and the combined holdings of households and non-profit institutions helping households increased by HUF 81 billion in November.

According to the MNB, the total stock of securities rose by 6.9 percent to HUF 66,597 billion.

The stock of investment units increased by HUF 535 billion, or 4.47 percent, to HUF 12,512 billion. Within this, the notes of money market funds reached HUF 288 billion, and the securities of other funds reached HUF 12,224 billion at the end of the period. The value of the new issues was HUF 43 billion, and the maturity was HUF 52 billion in November.

In the case of listed shares, the increase was more than 10 percent, amounting to HUF 856 billion, so the stock reached HUF 8,982 billion. At the end of November, credit institution shares amounted to HUF 3,771 billion, non-financial company shares to HUF 5,170 billion, and shares issued by other sectors to HUF 41 billion.

The data release also stated that the total value of mortgage bonds increased by 3.4 percent to HUF 1,683 billion, while the category of other bonds increased by 6.94 percent to HUF 6,486 billion.
