From the first of January, in Józsefváros, you can pay up to HUF 150,000 for annual parking in the most expensive zone after your first car. According to the decision of the left-wing municipality led by András Pikó, the change will affect everyone, but those families who have two cars or would like to move to a new apartment will be the worst off, reports the HírTV website .
A few weeks ago, cars could park for free in downtown Budapest. From the new year, however, Józsefváros vehicle owners also had to reach deep into their wallets. As of January, free residential parking has ceased. Locals can thus pay up to HUF 30,000 for their first car.
The residents of the district claim that they did not know about the introduction of the new measure.
Pursuant to the decision of the left-wing district administration, the district is divided into zones and a separate fee is imposed for the first and second vehicles. In addition, they prepare different price categories for, among others, retirees, large families, and people moving into a new apartment.
The district's local Fidesz representative considers the measure unacceptable.
According to Tamás Vörös, parking fees can seriously set back urban development and adversely affect local investments and the real estate market.
