Gergely Karácsony, already from Zugló, advertised as a model project the housing construction, of which nothing was realized, but more than two billion forints disappeared. Nothing else is happening than what usually happens under Karácsony's leadership: the investment is not realized where it was planned, not as much, but much more expensive, and not what was planned, but much less. The dollar left will not admit that they applauded the support they received directly from Brussels, the president of Fidesz from Zugló told Metropol about Gergely Karácsony's "Model House" project.

In 2019, Mrs. Gyurcsány and Gergely Karácsony announced that an apartment building would be built with the direct support of the European Commission on a plot on Gizella Street. Since then, nothing has happened on the affected lot, and the project was transferred to the renovation of an apartment building on Mexikói út, in which only 5 apartments will be completed instead of 14 new apartments.

Not then and not there, not construction, but only renovation, for hundreds of millions more. said Ádám Borbély.

The entire left campaigned in Brussels so that local governments could receive direct funding from the European Union, leaving out the Hungarian government.

The model housing project also clearly shows that the opposition's approach is untenable, and that the best place for incoming funds is at the state and government levels, because there are transparent operating conditions, but much less so in the case of local governments, pointed out the Fidesz Zuglói representative.

In 2018, the 14th district municipality and its consortium partners won HUF 1.5 billion from the European Commission's Urban Innovative Actions (UIA) program for Gergely Karácsony's model house in Zugló.

The investment called E-Co Housing, with more than 4.5 million euros, almost HUF 1.5 billion in support, was about a 25-30-apartment apartment building with almost zero energy consumption and forging the soon-to-be residents into a residential community.

The deadline for the investment was October 31, 2022, but the house is not ready and the date for the residents to move in is still far away.

Moreover, in the meantime, in addition to the deadline, the venue was also changed.

Instead of the planned 25-30 rental apartments on Gizella út, an apartment building will be renovated on Mexikói út, where nine tenants already live, so in the end only 5 new apartments will be built instead of 25-30 apartments.

Last spring, the leftist-majority body voted almost HUF 160 million and at the end of the year HUF 360 million as a contribution to be able to finish the project, which had undergone deadline changes and a change of territory.

Borbély believes that the people of Zugló will be moaning for years about the burden of the failed project, which has cost the district a total of HUF 690 million so far, and for which they will receive a modest five apartments in return.

At the suggestion of Csaba Horváth, a temporary evaluation committee of 5 people will be set up in Zugló, but the real people responsible for the project, Gergely Karácsony, the mayor of Zugló at the time, and former deputy mayor Rebeka Szabó, the original person responsible for the project, are no longer in Zugló and will not be held accountable.
