The Modern Cities program, which currently has more than a hundred projects in the development phase, will continue this year, said the government commissioner responsible for the development of modern settlements in a video published on his Facebook page on Sunday.

Alpár Gyopáros reminded: the Modern Cities program is a priority development program for cities with county rights, within the framework of which the unprecedented scale of development affecting 23 cities with county rights is taking place in the framework of 4,200 billion.

All cities with county status already have completed project elements of the Modern Cities program, whose investments will continue this year even in the current difficult economic situation, he added.

According to the government commissioner, the government has paid HUF 2,200 billion to the project owners so far.

More than 800 kilometers of expressways have been built, including the M85 and M86 four-lane roads of the County of Győr-Moson-Sopron, the M30 motorway near Miskolc, the M44 road in Viharsarok, the M70 expressway of Nagykanizsa, the Salgótarjánt and road 21 connecting the M3 motorway, and the section between the M4 motorway and the M0 near Szolnok.

Alpár Gyopáros highlighted, "133 of the 270 development goals have been fully or partially realized, so people can already use almost 50 percent of the projects."

The implementation of more than a hundred projects is in some development stage, that is, under planning or construction, and hopefully will be completed soon, despite the difficult economic situation, the government commissioner added.

Among the developments in 2022, he highlighted the handover of the Érdi District Court and Prosecutor's Office, the Nyíregyháza Athletic Center, the Zalaegerszeg Municipal Swimming Pool, the Tatabánya Multifunctional Hall, and the Industrial Park and Szakipark in Veszprém.

In previous years, "the renovation of the main parish church in Salgótarján and its surroundings, the beach, promenade and parking lot as part of the Debrecen Forest Program, the Pick Szeged Arena, the sports spas in Szeged and Sopron, the tram-train between Hódmezővásárhely and Szeged, the Veszprém, Nyíregyháza and the continuous development of Győr zoos, the Innovation Knowledge Center in Zalaegerszeg, and the bicycle path between Nyíregyháza and Tokaj" - mentioned examples of the results of the Modern Cities program by Alpár Gyopáros.
