Hungary and the Vatican share three issues, which do not always correspond to the international mainstream, such as peacemaking in Ukraine, protection of families and support for Christians, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó stated on Wednesday in Vatican City.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the head of the ministry said that during the day he also met Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, head of the Holy See's diplomacy, whom he called his friend after they have been working together for more than eight years.

He emphasized that Hungary and the Vatican agree that the war and human suffering in Ukraine must end as soon as possible, this is a joint effort.

"Unfortunately, it must be seen that war rhetoric prevails in international politics, in many cases those who act for peace are criticised, criticized and stigmatized, but this should not distract us," he stressed.

The minister reported on his visit to the Vatican in the video below.
