They hit, beat, kick, bite - said Prime Minister Viktor Orbán on Kossuth radio Good morning, Hungary! in his Friday program about how long Hungary can resist involvement in the war. He pointed out that at home the left wing funded from abroad is on the side of the war, but he also added that as long as he is the prime minister, Hungary will not drift into war.
For us, the security of Hungary is the first, and that is why Hungary is not at war with anyone - declared Viktor Orbán, emphasizing that the Hungarian interest is that the country stays out of the war, the people chose peace. The war should be localized and not internationalized, he said. He said: the government is taking steps to prevent Hungary from drifting into war, and if it did not do so, it would find itself facing the will of the people.
The prime minister pointed out: Germany initially only sent helmets to Ukraine, it refused to send life-saving equipment, but since then this situation has changed, now we are talking about tanks, and they are also talking about airplanes. "It's clear that if you don't kick your ass in the beginning, your conflict will drift in," he added.
We must stay out of the war
The Prime Minister reminded us that the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war and the Hungarian election campaign coincided in time: then the left said what it wanted, and if they won, we would now be up to our necks in the war. "We said that it was in the Hungarian national interest to stay out of the war. The people chose peace in the 2022 election," Orbán reminded, adding that if someone in Hungary wanted to enter the war, it would go against the will of the people. At the same time, he also said: there is a lot of pressure on the Hungarian government internationally to force Hungary into the war.
According to the Prime Minister, who is at war with the other is not a matter of statements, since
"it is clear that arming a country and helping its budget clearly means that a state is involved in the war".
They hit, beat, kick, bite - said Orbán in relation to how long Hungary can resist involvement in the war. He pointed out that at home the left wing funded from abroad is on the side of the war, but he also added that as long as he is the prime minister, Hungary will not drift into war.
According to the Prime Minister, the damage to human life could be in the hundreds of thousands by now, so we must do everything we can to ensure a ceasefire.
The number one condition for success is national consultation
Viktor Orbán called the national consultations a living form of democracy. He reminded that in 2010 the country fell to its knees, it was clear that the Gyurcsány government would fail, but it was a key issue to keep the majority behind the cabinet during the crisis management, and the new basic law also had to be drafted. "That's when we came up with the national consultation," recalled the Prime Minister, adding: the national consultations were about the most important issues for the country, and the number of returned questionnaires was several million.
The number one condition for success is the national consultation, stated Orbán, who thanked 1.4 million people for returning the latest consultation forms.
Sanctions do not help the Ukrainians
In connection with the last national consultation, Viktor Orbán said: the people know and understand the serious damage and reject the sanctions, the answers revealed that, according to the Hungarians, the Brussels sanctions do not help the Ukrainians, they do not make the Russians retreat, but they cause us terrible damage. , for Europe, the European economy, including Hungary".
"For the results I achieved at the negotiating table, it is very important to be clear", it is not the Hungarian Prime Minister who has a problem with the sanctions, but an entire nation that stands united against the sanctions. "Such a successful national consultation is a great help to me, and perhaps the number one condition for success," declared Viktor Orbán.
According to the government's calculations, as a result of the failed Brussels sanctions, Hungary will lose HUF 3,764 billion due to lagging economic growth.
Orbán also pointed out that, as a result of the sanctions, the German economy will suffer a loss of 175 billion euros in 2023.
In our country, the sanctions cause almost as much loss as the personal income tax people pay in a year, explained the prime minister.
There are new sanctions plans in Brussels: nuclear energy is on the table, emphasized the Prime Minister, who expects a big battle: "Where it does not affect vital Hungarian interests, we will not prevent EU sanctions. But with regard to oil, gas and nuclear energy, Hungary will veto".
There is no space for the voice of the people in Western Europe
The question is whether the Hungarian Prime Minister will stick to the national interest in the EU debates, said the Prime Minister in connection with the criticisms coming from Brussels, and then added: Hungarians want the voice of the people to be heard in Brussels as well. "There is no space for people's voices in Western Europe, they try to suppress anti-war voices. While the media at home is multi-vocal, this is not the case in the West. In the West, you can read the same about the war in right-wing and left-wing newspapers," pointed out Orbán, who also stated that the Hungarian government will not support any sanctions measure that would increase inflation.
The Prime Minister considered the issue of energy to be the most important, adding that the sanctions against Russia should not affect nuclear energy. He reminded: Hungary had previously obtained an exception for the import of oil.
Defense systems must be built
“There is not only a dollar left, but also a dollar media based on the latest developments. On the most important international issues, the left represents positions that are bad for Hungary. Such are war, migration, sanctions and the gender issue. We have now received the answer that the left takes the position it does because that's what they are paid for," said the Prime Minister, adding that we should not give up hope that cooperation between the parties on national issues may be established here as well.
Viktor Orbán expressed his hope that an investigation would reveal who actually gave the money to the election campaign of the dollar left, because for now we only know the techniques. "This is a very serious matter, and when the investigation is over, we need to put in place defense systems to protect ourselves against foreign-paid politicians," he pointed out.
Inflation must be crushed
"Inflation dominates public thinking today. We will try to provide assistance this year as well, but the only task is to break down inflation. Inflation is a near enemy," said the Prime Minister, pointing out that the government has already administered the vaccine against inflation to the economy.
According to Viktor Orbán's calculations, the monetary deterioration will decrease from March and will be in single digits in December.
"We will not allow sanctions that would increase inflation, and thus we will not allow them to be imposed on nuclear energy," the Prime Minister returned to the Brussels sanctions at the end of the interview.
