The survival of the smaller parties against the Democratic Coalition is very questionable, so it is not surprising that several of them decided to transfer to the Gyurcsány party. Now the chairman of the Párbeszéd supervisory board, István Kenéz, has decided to transfer to the Democratic Coalition led by Ferenc Gyurcsány.
A total of 18 people have joined the party since the elections. Kenéz wrote about his departure on his social media page that he wants to take part in the "demolition of the Orbán regime", for which, according to him, the conditions are only met in the DK.
"Klára Dobrev clearly showed that the Shadow Government is the only governing alternative in the opposition, and that they are the last hope of those who want a change of government. I am proud that, as a member of the DK community, I can continue working for a change of government and a European Hungary!"
- wrote the politician leaving Párbeszéd in his Facebook post on Friday.
We do not see into the internal affairs of the DK, so it is not possible to say with complete certainty that the Gyurcsány party consciously hunts down and recruits members of other, smaller political formations, but the numbers and facts prove that there is indeed a wave of defections - Milán Pálfalvi, an analyst at the Nézőpont Institute, told Magyar Nemzet It is a big question whether this will lead to a mass party change in the future, but we don't see that yet, he added.
According to the analyst, career politicization is the reason why several politicians of the MSZP and Párbeszéd already see the possibility of advancement in the DK. They expect a mandate, a seat, a more secure background, and neither the MSZP nor the Párbeszéd can provide this. If we look at it from the point of view of the transferees, they are probably speculating well anyway, since it is already clear that the survival of the smaller parties in relation to the DK is very questionable - pointed out Milán Pálfalvi, who says that we can say that the bag has found its spot. And the process is far from over, it can almost be wrapped up, he said.
Milán Pálfalvi also spoke about the goals of the Gyurcsány party. According to him, there will never be unity on the left, this is due to their essence. The goal of DK is to absorb as much of the left-wing political circle as possible, the analyst emphasized. Although Ferenc Gyurcsány's party is decisive as the strongest opposition formation, it will never be able to become the sole ruler of the left, said Pálfalvi, who said that the smaller parties were sidelined due to the formation of the shadow government and therefore drifted into a forced path. Either they team up separately from DK to have a chance to survive, or they disappear in the sinkhole. The third option is enrollment in DK, which, however, will never be complete. There will always be a non-Gyurcsányist left-wing organization, he said.
Milán Pálfalvi said: there is no worthy challenger to the current government parties. However, the DK is working to be the strongest opposition force and really have a chance for this title. To do this, he collects those politicians who are willing to serve this purpose, in exchange for the hoped-for security. Remember, we are talking about career politicians who are driven by something else instead of thinking about the nation. For them, patriotism is not an issue, but on the right, this is precisely the leaven, the foundation, the unifying force beyond debate, the analyst pointed out.
