Bribery has been a topic of conversation at the Eötvös high school for years, several students are ashamed to go there, say several students of the institution in their comments on Facebook. They heard that the less able children of affluent parents got into school by bribing some teachers, Metropol reported. According to the newspaper, students and parents have now realized why they experienced strange things around the entrance exams.
As previously reported by the newspaper, László Moss, the director of the Eötvös József High School in Budapest, and Gábor Kálmán, the head of the foundation belonging to the high school, have been "selling" school places to the children of wealthy parents who failed admission for several decades for bribes of at least half a million - it was revealed in the audio recording sent to Metropol. This is how the child of the CEO of Spar or the grandson of Sándor Demján were admitted to the institution. Since the outbreak of the scandal, both former students and current applicants have confirmed all this on the social media site.
According to one of the students who had previously attended Eötvös, it was a depressing feeling that well-to-do but less talented young people often only imitated their studies, because it was possible to get good grades for money.
As he said, it was seen as a slap in the face that some teachers classified the children according to their economic background.
I hope from the bottom of my heart that this scandal will be investigated, and if the charges are dismissed, those responsible will receive their deserved punishment, he declared.
