Corruption in Brussels has been operating as a criminal organization for years - according to the confessions that have been leaked so far. According to the assumptions, Eva Kaili's home in Brussels was used to hide corruption money because the property was protected by immunity, so the authorities could not search the house there. Due to the scandal, an extraordinary debate was held in the European Parliament, several parties accuse each other of taking political advantage out of the corruption scandal, M1 News reported.

What the hell is going on in Brussels? - with this question, the Commissioner for Home Affairs of the European Commission opened his extraordinary debate on the corruption scandal of the European Parliament on Tuesday. Although, according to Ylva Johansson, the EU Commissioner for the Interior, it is untenable that the European public discourse is now filled with suitcases full of money instead of solidarity with Ukraine, the Swedish politician expressed caution regarding the details of the corruption case.

“Some have committed cases that appear to be crimes. All of this tarnishes the good reputation of all our members, and we must definitely learn from this and change things, because trust has been broken," said the Commissioner of Internal Affairs.

The leader of the European People's Party also mentioned a few colleagues and individual cases "I am convinced that the European Parliament is determined to deal with some of the bad apples that were in this house," said Slovak Vladimír Bilčík.

In the colors of the Greens, Terry Reintke was also concerned about the perception of European institutions. While it seemed that Raphael Glucksmann, the leader of the group of representatives detained in the case, the group called Socialists and Democrats, who is said to be running for the vacant vice-presidential position of Eva Kaili, tried to defend the good name of his own group. "This story is disgusting, the so-called leftists have given up their principles," said the French politician.

"I distance myself from the behavior of the socialist faction," declared Paolo Borchia, representing the right-wing Identity and Democracy faction. Referring to the involvement of the European People's Party in the left, the Italian representative said: nowadays it is hardly possible to talk about honest party families, therefore the European Commission should act in the matter, not the European Parliament.

The leadership of the European Parliament also feels that the corruption scandal has dealt a blow to the body's credibility, which is why Roberta Metsola, the President of the EP, on Monday put "serious reforms" on the horizon. (In the opening picture)
