Pensioners can count on the government of Hungary - this is what Minister of Finance Mihály Varga and Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister Zsolt Nyitrai talked about in a joint video shared on the Facebook page of the Chief Advisor on the occasion of the publication of Jókor magazine on Sunday.

Mihály Varga said: war is raging in the neighborhood and in the Middle East, the budget is under extraordinary burdens,

yet pensioners can still rely on the national government.

After last year's 18.5 percent pension increase, we increased pensions by 6 percent at the beginning of this year, and in February we again paid the 13th monthly pension taken by the left, the minister said. It is good news, he added, that the 6 percent increase at the beginning of the year also means an increase in the real value of pensions, as annual inflation is expected to be much lower than this. The government therefore stands by its promise made in 2010: it will preserve the purchasing power of pensions and even increase it.

"Since 2010, we have doubled the amount of pensions, and we have improved their real value by more than 20 percent. As long as Hungary has a national government, we will give pensioners the respect they deserve"

said Mihály Varga.
