The Debrecen water base and the city's water supply will not be in danger even after the construction of the battery factory - the CEO of Debreceni Vízmű Zrt. told Magyar Nemzet about this. Ferenc Gorján said that the settlement's water supply is provided from two directions, from surface and underground water bases, the latter based on three groups of wells.

– These are very high-quality waters, 8-10 thousand years old, which are located at a depth of two hundred meters. We were talking about waters that fell as precipitation 8-10 thousand years ago and only now reached the underground water base, said the specialist. The supply of these underground water bases is 75,000 cubic meters per day, that is, the maximum amount of water could be extracted in 24 hours. The other supply is the surface water treatment plant installed on the main Keleti canal, from which, after cleaning, the water arrives at the county seat via two transmission lines. Its theoretical capacity is 30,000 cubic meters per day.

At the same time, Ferenc Gorján explained:

the water demand is an average of 40,000 cubic meters per day, which was not even 60,000 cubic meters at peak time - on June 29 of the previous year.

However, together with the needs of industry, the water demand does not reach the theoretical capacity of 105,000 cubic meters per day. In order for this amount to be more than just theoretical, capacity-enhancing investments must be made.

It is important to emphasize that, according to Ferenc Gorján's information, hundreds of monitoring wells are operated near the water bases, so they constantly check the quality of the groundwater and can intervene if necessary. – Additional protection of the water base means that the flow direction of the groundwater goes from northeast to southwest.

The water bases are in the north, while the industrial facilities are in the south, where the battery factory will also be built.

In other words, the flow does not take place towards the water bases. Obviously, regardless of this, the facilities must be built in such a way that the insulation is ensured - emphasized the specialist. In the vicinity of each industrial facility, the various environmental elements – water, soil and air – are also examined separately, for which the city, together with the disaster management, creates an environmental protection plant control monitoring system, the data of which would be accessed by various specialists in addition to the municipality and the waterworks.

All of this is interesting because there has been a long time in Debrecen to create a mood against the battery factory, but more and more data and videos prove that people from Áldebrecen are actually harassing the citizens of the county seat. It was also revealed that paid protesters instigated the recent public hearing on the investment.
