The head of Slovakian diplomacy, Rastislav Kácer, blatantly lies, makes deliberately misleading statements and accused Hungary of intending to acquire Slovak territories. "Europe is facing major crises, in which case sane politicians are needed, and Slovakia's current foreign minister is not like that."

The head of Slovakian diplomacy, Rastislav Kácer, blatantly lies, makes deliberately misleading statements, and accused Hungary of intending to acquire Slovak territories - former Slovak Prime Minister Igor Matovic, leader of the OĄaNO party, announced this on Wednesday at a joint press conference with his party colleague György Gyimesi, a member of the Slovak Parliament. The Hungarian reaction was not left behind in the matter either, the Slovak ambassador was appointed.

According to the report of the felvidék.ma portal, the press conference was called on the occasion that Rastislav Kácer said in Markíza television's Na telo (Tailored plus) program on Tuesday evening:

if Russia were to succeed in occupying Ukraine, Hungary would be threatened with a demand to break the territorial integrity of Slovakia.

"If Vladimir Putin had been more successful and was on our eastern borders today, I think we would be directly confronted with such a demand today, unfortunately," the Slovak foreign minister answered on the TV program when asked if there was a danger that Hungary would in the following years it will make territorial claims against Slovakia.

According to Kácer, the possibility of Hungarian claims may not only be a real issue in the future, but it is already a real issue.

These statements made in the program were also played at the beginning of the press conference, the online edition of the paper wrote.

According to the report of the Felvidék portal, in response to these words, György Gyimesi said,

the sentences of the temporarily commissioned foreign minister are reminiscent of the nineties, "he is the sane Slota"

he declared. Gyimesi referred to the fact that both Slovakia and Hungary are members of the European Union and NATO member countries, so Kácer's statement that Hungary would make territorial claims against Slovakia "goes beyond all borders", he believed.

Regarding the appointment of the head of the Slovak diplomacy, Igor Matovic confirmed that it was indeed his party that appointed Rastislav Kácer together with the other coalition partners. He also admitted that Kácer's past in Hungary was known to them, when as ambassador he did not always behave correctly towards the host country, despite this, he was appointed with the conviction that he would be a good candidate, he said.

According to the former prime minister

Kácer - playing the Hungarian card - feeds conspiracy theories in the public. According to him, this is closely related to early elections. He is doing all this as the first person in diplomacy, without evidence, even though his task would be to nurture and further deepen the already existing friendly relations with our Hungarian neighbors - he believed. According to Matovic, such accusations grossly violate diplomatic rules, so he called on the foreign minister to apologize to Hungary.

Igor Matovic, as former Prime Minister, noted that during his prime ministership and ministry, a topic like this never came up at the security councils. He believes that if there were real threats, he would have known about them from the meetings of the Slovak Security Council.

"Minister Kácer blatantly lies, deliberately misleads and accused Hungary of intending to acquire Slovak territories"

- he said, and then added that it would be time for him to apologize for that - read the article of felvidék.ma.

Tamás Menczer: the Slovak foreign minister's statements are unacceptable, nonsensical lies

Tamás Menczer, the State Secretary responsible for bilateral relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, announced on Wednesday evening that he had appointed the Slovakian ambassador to Budapest to the ministry because of the statements of Foreign Minister Rastislav Kácer, and told him that Kácer's statements were unacceptable and nonsensical lies.

"Europe is facing major crises, at such times sane politicians are needed, Slovakia's current foreign minister is not like that"

- wrote the secretary of state in his post published on Facebook.

He added: "Minister Kácer basically attacks Hungary because we are pro-peace and anti-sanctions. But we won't change this even if Minister Kácer doesn't like it."

"The Hungarian-Slovak partnership and the V4 alliance will more than survive figures like Rastislav Kácer"

Tamás Menczer stated.
