Orbán held talks with Ukrainian President Viktor Zelenskyi

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, together with the Prime Ministers of Greece, Croatia, Slovenia, the Austrian Chancellor and the Bulgarian and Cypriot heads of state, took part in a special meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Brussels at the EU summit - Prime Minister Bertalan Havasi informed MTI press chief on Thursday.

Life can only be saved with peace and a ceasefire. We, Hungarians, are still on the side of peace - the Prime Minister emphasized in a video published on Thursday on his social media page .

Viktor Orbán said: the president of Ukraine was interviewed at the extraordinary European Union summit in Brussels.

As he recalled, the largest humanitarian aid in Hungary's history was provided to Ukraine last year. "We have allowed more than a million refugees through our borders who came from Ukraine," he added.

"Listening to the Ukrainian president, it's clear that this war is dragging on. We can't count on it ending any time soon"

- declared the prime minister.

The prime minister emphasized: "we Hungarians will continue to help the Ukrainians with humanitarian means, but we will not continue to deliver weapons".

Viktor Orbán continued to call the peace negotiations, a ceasefire as soon as possible and a settlement resulting in lasting peace as the Hungarian interest.

The Prime Minister previously wrote on his social media page: Hungary continues to provide humanitarian and financial support to Ukraine.

He added: we support an immediate ceasefire in order to avoid the death of more people, Hungary belongs to the peace camp.
