45 percent of Austrians believe that it is time to end the European Union sanctions against Moscow due to the war in Ukraine. The proportion of those who think that the punitive measures should be maintained is 35 percent, reports the Austrian news portal Express, describing the INSA institute's survey. The proportion of those dissatisfied with the sanctions even increased slightly compared to the last survey in November: then 43 percent were disapproving and 38 percent were supporters.
The news portal wonders: are the Austrians dissatisfied because of the drastically increased gas and electricity prices following the war, or because Ukraine introduced sanctions against the Russian subsidiary of the Austrian Raiffeisen Bank in January as an unfriendly move?
In any case, according to Exxpress, it is not surprising that, broken down by party affiliation, a very high percentage of supporters of the opposition right-wing Freedom Party, 78 percent, reject the sanctions.
The party, which has been leading national surveys for months and has 28 percent support, has opposed sanctions and arms deliveries to Ukraine since the beginning of the war.
It is more interesting, however, that the relative majority of the voters of the opposition Social Democrats, 43 percent, consider the punitive measures to be unjustified, while 41 percent of the supporters take the opposite position. The leadership of the opposition liberal NEOS, which pursues a tough anti-Russia policy, is also in a difficult position, but 40 percent of its supporters would end the sanctions, 41 percent would continue them.
49 percent of supporters of the ruling Conservative People's Party support the sanctions, 41 percent reject the sanctions, and the ratio is 69:14 percent for the coalition partner Greens.
Civilians Info: So I do not at all think that Viktor Orbán is a wise leader of our people. He is simply the democratically elected Prime Minister of Hungary. That of Hungary, which is a member of federal systems, such as NATO and the European Union. Pragmatism and defense play an important role in Orbán's European policy. Protection of common and national interests and values. He is not a visionary who conjures a magic orb and browses through mystical mists, but a man of action. (Like real politicians in general!) Illegal migration must be stopped, physically as well, sanctions must be ended because they harm the Union, arms shipments simply prolong the war and people's suffering, we must return to the negotiating table, we must have peace - says. These are not onion words, this is reality. Then little by little the luminaries of Brussels and other countries realize that yes, really! This must be done! However, delay has a price in the age of dangers, the risks of which are only increased by spoiled and hesitant measures and ideological approaches.
You have to move well and well. Especially on time! That's it!
