With the new Common Agricultural Policy Strategy Plan, the rules of area-based subsidies will change, new subsidies will appear and the agro-ecology program will also start, which is why it is important that farmers are prepared for spring, said Agriculture Minister István Nagy on Wednesday on his social media page.

The head of the ministry emphasized that in order to inform farmers, experts from the Ministry of Agriculture and the National Chamber of Agrarian Economy (NAK) are touring the country. Most recently, István Nagy reported to the farmers of Kalocsa and the surrounding area about the important changes required by the European Union for the period until 2027. He added that the goal of the department is for producers to learn about the possibilities and conditions by April, when the uniform applications are submitted.

István Nagy explained that at these forums, farmers are told about the most important news that affects them, the main criteria for using subsidies, and they also have the opportunity to ask their questions.

In addition, the department and NAK also prepare village farmers and advisers, to whom farmers can safely contact, and they also publish informational materials and videos. The agricultural support system will have its own website, on which interested parties will be able to access all important information.

The minister stated that they stand by the farmers with all possible means, they will do everything in their power to get the information to as many producers as possible. The stakes are high

since a total of 1,340 million euros in direct area and animal-based support can be requested under five legal titles with the unified applications that can be submitted in the spring.

On his community page, the head of the ministry also talked about the financial support of farmers, as part of the KAP Strategic Plan, HUF 5,377 billion will come to finance Hungarian agriculture until 2027. The focus of the plan is on encouraging agricultural and food industry developments and generational change.

It is essential that farmers make an informed decision in 2023 and have a thorough understanding of the support elements in order to take advantage of these historic opportunities.

This amount of resources has never been available to agriculture, I am confident that we will close a very successful period of support - concluded István Nagy.
