According to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the head of the ministry said, after meeting for the fifteenth time with State Councilor Wang Ji, director of the Central Foreign Affairs Committee of the Chinese Communist Party (pictured above), that our country benefits a lot from the cooperation, which was also essential for Hungary to come out of the crisis stronger.
"We have been working for eight and a half years to ensure that the relationship system between Hungary and the People's Republic of China is truly strategic, truly comprehensive and truly a partnership," said Péter Szijjártó.
It was partly thanks to this cooperation that Hungary was able to start the vaccination campaign earlier than the European average during the coronavirus epidemic. And now, when the world is in a war crisis, the relationship between the two countries is also proving to be strategic, he pointed out.
He pointed out that due to environmental protection reasons, a political decision was made in Europe to green the transport sector, which requires electric cars and batteries, and in the latter area, eastern companies are by far the market leaders, including the Chinese.
Péter Szijjártó called the negotiations successful, as a result of which agreements were reached in recent years on Chinese investments that brought the most modern and environmentally friendly technologies to Hungary, creating thousands of jobs.
"Let's not forget that we were able to announce the largest investment in Hungarian economic history in the darkest year of the world economy. And now, a series of negotiations are taking place with four large Chinese companies, the conclusion of which could bring new investments of eight to ten billion euros to Hungary," he informed.
In this regard, he welcomed that Beijing supports the acceleration of investments, as well as the expansion of bilateral trade, the value of which reached 12 billion dollars last year.
In addition, as he emphasized, agricultural cooperation is also developing, as a result of which Hungary has the most import licenses for food products from the Central European region in the East Asian country.
The minister called it a key question where Chinese tourists return first after the closures caused by the epidemic, and reminded that the authorities have so far only given Chinese tour operators permission to organize group trips in two European countries. One of them is Hungary, as the only European Union state, so there are now five flights between China and Hungary per week.
Finally, he stated: the war in Ukraine has an extremely negative impact on Hungary and Europe, and the government is therefore interested in ending the armed conflict as soon as possible.
"It is good news that the Chinese are ready to take action to create peace, and we can work together in major international organizations in order to bring peace to Ukraine as soon as possible, because the sooner there is peace, the more lives we can save," he said.
