"It was tiring work," said the president of the European Commission about the sanctions, which, according to his own admission, they had already been working on before the outbreak of the war.
As the President of the European Commission put it : "More than a year ago, our American friends did something unprecedented: they sent an early warning by sharing their information and knowledge. So my cabinet, along with the Commission, the US Treasury Department, and the White House, began working on potential sanctions in December (!!!) in case Russia attacked Ukraine.
We really hoped that this would not happen and that we would never have to use the sanctions, but it was tiring work, we worked day and night..." Ursula von der Leyen admitted.
It is interesting that, apart from the European Commission's way of thinking, it was also revealed from Ursula von der Leyen's statement quoted above that while Viktor Orbán went on a peace mission to Russian President Vladimir Putin a few weeks before the outbreak of the war, the European Commission, together with the White House, was already on those sanctions worked, which he could use against the Russians after the outbreak of the war.
The only question is that if they were warned in time according to the president of the EU board, why did the European Commission work together with the White House on a post-invasion package of measures instead of a peaceful settlement of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict?
