As expected, consumer sentiment in the euro zone improved to a 12-month high in February, according to Monday's report based on preliminary data from the European Commission's Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs (DG EcFin).

In the euro zone, the February value of the consumer sentiment index improved from minus 20.7 points in January to minus 19 points, which is the highest since last February's minus 9.4 points.
The February value of the mood index was still far from the long-term average of minus eleven points.
In the EU, the consumer sentiment index strengthened by 1.5 points, to minus 20.6 points in February.
