Minister Gergely Gulyás said at the extraordinary time, Saturday's Government Information, that the government's meeting on Wednesday dealt with the issues of war, the economy and child protection.

According to the minister in charge of the Prime Minister's Office, at the same time as the tenth EU sanctions package is adopted, Europe is drifting towards war. The government's position is still that it is still in Hungary's interest to stay out of the war, and we will not continue to deliver weapons, but instead they are urging a ceasefire and peace negotiations between the parties. Budapest continues to see that international law has been violated by Russia by committing aggression.

The government is doing everything it can to ease the suffering of Transcarpathian Hungarians. In addition, we also continuously provide assistance to the Ukrainian people in many forms, Gergely Gulyás indicated. The government's clear position is that there will only be losers in this war, the destruction caused is unfathomable. Lives can only be saved with a ceasefire and peace, said Gergely Gulyás.

As he said, if NATO member states became part of the conflict, it would mean the outbreak of the Third World War.

According to the minister, the strength of the Hungarian economy is shown by the fact that in the midst of the significant increase in energy prices, 46,000 more people are working today than a year ago, said Gergely Gulyás, who promised that

the government maintains the reduced utility energy prices up to the average consumption.

The government is committed to maintaining the budget deficit target of 3.9%. Companies operating in the affected sectors must also pay the extra profit tax this year, emphasized Gulyás.

The issue of child protection has once again become the focus of attention, the minister said. He called it intolerable if anyone who deals with children abuses his position, not a single similar case should remain without consequences, he emphasized. The head of the school district was fired because he received a report about the teaching assistant, yet the school district hired him, which was irresponsible.

Last year, the authorities came to the attention of 261 cases where minors were abused. As he said, since 1989, the greatest consensus has emerged in society regarding the child protection referendum, and the child protection rules must be reviewed.

The Minister of the Interior instructed the authorities to conduct a rapid investigation in all similar cases. As he said, they agree with Professor Emőke Bagdy's opinion : if someone commits such a crime against a minor,

he is a pedophile, and his actions must be stopped.

Later, he also spoke about how the government is not concerned about negative reactions from abroad, although based on their experience so far, common sense still prevails in Brussels and it is clear that children must be protected against pedophiles in every possible way.

In response to questions from journalists, the minister in charge of the Prime Minister's Office asked that if some members of the medical chamber want to be involved in politics, they should join the party they like, but it is unacceptable that some people are generating political disputes by speaking out of the partnership cooperation against the system that has been agreed in detail with the chamber.

The minister called it a great honor that the Pope will visit Hungary in April. The relationship with the Vatican is excellent, he said, and on the most important world political issue, the Hungarian and Vatican positions are closest to each other. We trust that the voice of the Holy Father can be sufficient when it comes to the call for peace. The minister said that the details of the visit will be made public by the Vatican, and that Pope Francis is expected to meet with all public dignitaries.

Gergely Gulyás pointed to the recent violent acts of anti-fa groups when far-left groups make the darkest shadows of the past visible again in Budapest.

Regarding Viktor Orbán's possible visit to Kyiv, he said that if such a meeting were to take place, it would be good to improve the situation of the Transcarpathian Hungarian community.

Gergely Gulyás did not confirm that a national construction materials retail network would be created, even on the model of tobacco shops. As he said, there is a relevant proposal, which the government has already discussed, but no decision has yet been made.

To the question, what does it say to the fact that after the scandal of the ephebophilic teaching assistant in Budapest, the head of the PDSZ responded that the union only deals with labor law issues and not with anyone's private life, Gergely Gulyás responded that a union that gives something to itself will be chased away after such a statement his leader.

Regarding the discussions with Brussels, he said that the ball is currently in the European Commission's court, but the functioning of the Commission is not determined by Community law, but by politics.

Hungary is interested in a strong NATO, emphasized Gergely Gulyás, and for this it is necessary that as many strong countries as possible join the treaty, the minister referred to the intention of Finland and Sweden to join. As he said, unjust accusations have hit our country in recent years from both countries, even though, for example, the diversity of the press in Finland cannot be compared to what Hungary provides. "We expect both countries to show more respect towards Hungary", said the minister.
