- There is no need for certain circles to unsettle the intelligence services - József Horváth, the security policy advisor of the Center for Fundamental Rights, told our paper after the Index wrote about the fact that at the February hearing of the European Parliament's Pegasus investigation committee in Budapest, one of the representatives called Attila Péterfalvi, the National The President of the Data Protection and Freedom of Information Authority (NAIH) why he did not obtain the list of the three hundred people monitored by the spyware.

"Hungary is a sovereign state, with a freely elected government and its corresponding operating system," József Horváth, security policy advisor of the Center for Fundamental Rights, former deputy director general of military and civil defense, said to the Magyar Nemzet regarding the fact that the Pegasus investigation committee of the European Parliament in February He visited Budapest on the 20th and 21st. - In the European Union, the regulation and operation of secret services is strictly within the jurisdiction of the member states - he stated. As he said, this is an important basis for a country's sovereignty. József Horváth also stated that secret services have a legally defined right and possibility to use appropriate tools, one of which may be the use of certain software. In addition, he emphasized that Hungarian national security would be at a disadvantage vis-à-vis the counter-interested secret services, as well as that it would not be able to fulfill its duties stipulated by law if it renounced them. The expert emphasized that the information about who the software was used against was inflated for reasons of political motivation.

- At the moment, one body, the national security committee of the parliament, may have control rights

József Horváth indicated. He added that if the committee members detect illegality, they have the right and duty to initiate an investigation. In addition, the security policy expert emphasized that, where appropriate, who the services are checking could constitute a state secret, and if this were to become public, it could harm Hungary's national security interests. "There is no need for certain circles to unsettle the secret services," underlined József Horváth.

- The protection of the integrity of a country no longer exists in certain circles of interest. It seems that the European Union also strives to push this value system into the background - said secret service expert László Földi when asked by our newspaper. According to the former director of operations of the Information Office, this is why prominent representatives of the media and the civil world, among others, start and try to intervene in processes in an amazing way. - Interfering with cases that are still in progress harms the interests of national security and the security of the country. Whoever exerts pressure in such cases is committing a crime, he added.

Meanwhile, Attila Péterfalvi, the president of the National Data Protection and Freedom of Information Authority (NAIH), told Index: double standards can be seen at the Pegasus investigation committee, the representatives came to Budapest with preconceived notions, and moreover, they do not understand the legal situation either. According to the portal's article, at the hearing in February, one of the representatives asked Attila Péterfalvi to account for why he did not obtain the list of three hundred people monitored by the Pegasus spy software.

– I threw the question back at him, saying: if he gets the list, we will be happy to investigate all the cases. We asked both the Budapest-based and the London-based Amnesty International to hand over the list of those observed, but they only said: they also only saw

the president pointed out. – Unfortunately, I cannot reveal details, but we have established that those who appeared in the press as being observed, well, several of them were not involved, even though nothing was found on their phones. And we hired a forensic expert to examine the operation of the software - summed up Attila Péterfalvi. It is known: before the arrival of the committee, Justice Minister Judit Varga stated that national security is the sole responsibility of the member states and that the committee's work dangerously extends beyond the EU's powers. Ernő Schaller-Baross, a member of the European Parliament of Fidesz, previously told our newspaper that the committee's visit is a purely political matter, and that the committee exists because the left-wing majority of the European Parliament decided so.

Civilians Info: The Pegasus committee would be happy to go on a trip, or whatever, and of course the left-wing majority EP would also like to dig into Hungarian secret internal affairs. The matter is completely clear: the mandate of these ladies and gentlemen is to spread rumors about us, which, if possible, destroy the respect of Hungarians. It doesn't matter if it's true or not, the point is that Hungary's streak in the EP continues. Why all this? It's simple, because his government is right-wing, Christian, national and, above all, stable. This is the problem, they don't know how to break this national unity, because it is clear: the support of Fidesz is still around two-thirds today, despite the sanctioned inflation, the rise in gas prices and withheld EU funds. And the Gyurcsányist left is breathing down their necks, they should deliver as much negative as possible about the government, so that they can have a weapon that they can say was not forged by them, but by the tireless demigods of Brussels, who are now trying to investigate the legend of a winged paripa on the basis that some people thought they saw hoofprints.
